The Niger Delta of Nigeria occupies a very strategic place in the stability and prosperity of the country. Because of its uniqueness on one hand, and the complexity of its issues, peoples and politics on the other hand, whatever affects the Niger Delta, affects the nation, nay the oil world. Given the over 80% revenue this tiny portion generates for Nigeria, one will assume that its people and place are in paradise. That is not the case. There is no place in Nigeria in a more sorry state! For more than four decades, this goose that lays the golden egg for the nation has continued to suffer degradation of its environment and depletion of its ecosystem. The story is not different in this 21^st century. The Niger Delta Green Pastures is an NGO voicing out its concern along with hundreds of other similar groups and organizations. We fear of our future! We fear what will become of our posterity! We need help, from the Nigerian government, from the multinational oil giants operating in the country and from the outside world. How to channel this help (if we get it and when we get it) to our children and youths who are doomed to live to see a more terrible devastation of our environment if nothing is done, is the main mission of this organisation.
